The AI revolution is a reality to confront rather than escape, and to use intelligently. A quick test with ChatGPT shows it excels at aggregating information, comparing figures and summarizing documents, but runs into trouble where contextualization or individual opinions are needed — asking 'which professor is the best?’ requires first defining what 'best’ means. AI is a helpful instrumental tool for research, teaching and speeding things up, but as it stands it cannot replace us. It is weak on personal opinions and subjective judgments such as beauty, aggregating internet opinions without delivering a definitive answer. The single most important skill to teach students in light of AI is therefore critical thinking.
