Pseudoscience as a product of disappointment with science
Pseudoscience is often born out of disappointment with science. It is not enough to actively fight myths (flat earth, anti-vaccine claims) and promote good knowledge beyond the walls of academia through talks, podcasts and MOOCs. We must honestly acknowledge that science does not offer ready-made „recipes” for life or health, and promote a realistic view of science as an open process that keeps improving and learns from its own mistakes — sometimes producing false or outdated theories that still serve as cornerstones for future progress. Because pseudoscience is inherently closed and real science is inherently open, fighting pseudoscience should be tied to promoting openness and an open (rather than fixed) mindset.
Real science, good science is inherently open.
