Universities are changing because societies, labor markets and needs are changing — not only because of AI tools, but because the traditional way of building degrees must change, and already is. A direction impossible a few decades ago is joint programs and joint degrees through international networks and consortia, which requires managers to build joint legal frameworks and diplomas across different legal systems. Crucially, the future emphasizes the skill perspective over pure knowledge: since students can now access knowledge faster than a lecturer can deliver it, teaching should build critical thinking, understanding of processes and 'connecting the dots’ rather than rote learning. More workshops and project-based learning, sometimes with external institutions, build teamwork and labor-market attractiveness. Internationalization, joint programs and more skill-based learning are the future.
