Reinventing degrees — modular, European and competency-based
Not the end of degrees, but the end of their traditional form. The future is a more flexible, modular and international model, with alliances like Una Europa already showing and actively constructing it. Degrees will become 'European by design’ — studying across different institutions each semester or year, with joint bachelor’s and master’s programs in multilingual, multicultural environments that build lasting networks. He backs a dual system: long degrees remain but are complemented, and sometimes partly replaced, by short, targeted modules — online micro-courses and intensive summer and winter schools — integrated into degrees via proper ECTS validation. Competency-based education will let students prove mastery through projects, entrepreneurial challenges and industry collaboration rather than seat time.
We’re not ending the degrees, we’re reinventing them.
