Reasoning, ethics and empathy at the centre of the curriculum
As AI takes over analytical, routine and even 'creative’ work — though it isn’t truly creative, only offering options to elaborate on — universities must teach students to strengthen human judgment and adaptability and to shape technology rather than merely react to it. Reasoning and critical thinking should be central, so students can distinguish real information from the maladaptive content flooding them and recognize biases in AI models. Ethical competencies and soft skills matter, because people already believe what AI suggests; AI can define empathy but never feel it, so humans must cultivate it. She also warns of shrinking attention spans and declining reading awareness, urging workshops to regain the ability to focus and analyze what we read.
The critical thinking really should be emphasized in the future learning skills.
